regarding The Good Wife

Aside from Josh Charles, who I love even though he hasn't had a really substantial storyline just yet, I think my favorite part about this show is when Alicia and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi, who rocks) are hanging out together -- whether that be investigating cases in a smart and professional manner, or Kalinda tricking Alicia into taking a shot of tequila as a fake "law firm tradition." :D Hooray for consistently passing the Bechdel test in such a charming way! Plus, they have that whole opposite-but-complementary-personalities thing going on, of which I'm always a fan. [livejournal.com profile] maribouquet once dubbed it "rapport and repartee," which I think says it nicely.

I've never seen Matt Czuchry in anything, but I really like his voice. Is that shallow of me? I think he's doing a great job with his character, too (charming, ambitious, manipulative but not evil, that curious statement about not really being interested in litigation), but I'm kinda fixated on his voice at the moment. And I gotta like a guy who has Eight Legged Freaks, Jake 2.0, Veronica Mars, and voice-acting for Justice League all on his resume. Not to mention that, according to my friend, he and Josh Charles have epic ping-pong battles on set. <3

Also, I hadn't realized the show was produced by Scott Free Productions -- i.e., Ridley & Tony Scott's production company, i.e. the guys who do Numb3rs. I think that bodes well for certain elements of the show; Numb3rs, while it is a very formulaic, lightly-entertaining rather than heavy-hitting procedural, has always done a very satisfying job with its family dynamics. I see some of the same qualities in TGW, so *crosses fingers*.

Awwww.

Do I need to watch this show?

I know, right? She also tells me fun things like who eats what from craft services. :D

Hmm, need? Probably not. It's enjoyable, I love Josh Charles, Kalinda and Alicia are very fun to watch, and the family elements are handled nicely, but it's also a pretty straight-up courtroom drama so far, despite the long-term arc about her recovering from her husband's political scandal. It's also shown hints of potential for an underlying quirkiness that I'm hoping will emerge as the season continues. So "need"? Not really. You'd definitely like it if you did watch, though it wouldn't blow you away. Still, Josh Charles. And it's always nice having a female lead for a major network show. :)
