Procrastinating again
Okay, I realize that I'm the only person in the world not talking about Supernatural or Grey's Anatomy right now, but that's because I am a good student and studied biology instead of watching TV tonight. Only that's a lie, because I actually suck as a student, went to Midnight Breakfast, watched Bones and made LJ posts, but still. Have a bulleted list of stuff:
- Katie and I have tickets! Specifically, tickets to go see Jensen Ackles in A Few Good Men on Saturday, June 9th at 2pm. We'll be staying with our aunt and uncle in Dallas, which means we should be around to hang out with other fangirls who are there on Friday/Saturday/possibly Sunday. Who wants to meet up?
- I think they should have a Dr. McGeeky on Grey's Anatomy. I mean, really, a hot, nerdy doctor would make me sooo happy. (I arrived at this thought by way of NCIS: McGee-->McGeek-->McGeeky + Tony's line in 2.08 "Heart Break": "Anthony DiNozzo, comma, M.D." C'mon people, AU crossover time! Go!) (Yes, I am a crazy person. You knew this.)
- My new favorite word is petrichor. (also here) It's the smell of rain on dry earth. Isn't that a great word? It comes from the Greek words for stone and for the Greek gods' equivalent of blood. I found it today via
musesfool 's daily poem.
- Okay, so, this week's Bones? The summer after my freshman year of high school, I managed to get involved with this really cool (read: irredeemably geeky) program through my science teacher. NASA holds a competition where colleges around the country can submit proposals for an experiment they would like to perform on the Vomit Comet (NASA prefers the name "Weightless Wonder"). Austin Community College won a slot for their experiment, and they got a few students from my school to be their
bitchesground crew.
Anyway, to make a long story short (i.e., minus details about the experiment itself, my wacky teammates, and sitting around making duct tape wallets and fake moustaches for ourselves and our teddy bear mascot while waiting in the hangar), we went to Houston and helped set up our experiment in the plane, which means I have actually seen the inside of the Vomit Comet. While I know they really couldn't shoot inside the real plane, television magic, blah blah blah, this means I spent the entire scene going "But! No! That's all wrong! It was much darker, and the whole shiny white walls thing? Yeah, right. One person vomits, and that shiny white interior is done for. And they totally wouldn't let Bones and Booth just go up like that, our crew had to spend several sessions that lasted for hours in one of those pressure chambers before they were cleared. Also? There would be more people in the plane. Flights on that damn thing are in high demand, which means they pack 'em in. It was so much smaller than that, too--shorter and narrower. This is so wrong." and so on. It was very distracting.
That said, how cute are Angela and Hodgins? Every time I think they've maxed out on cute, they beat their own personal best. I'm so glad she said no. It's rare to have that happen on a TV show without it becoming this big thing that breaks a couple apart, and I think they handled it just right. I love my show. Also, Angela looked awesome. I cracked up at the scene when Booth said he could tell she smelled good even from the other side of the room, and Zack said "You can't see smell." He's so clueless. *pets*
- ETA: Also, I updated my userpics. Exciting new icons! I'm kinda ridiculous when it comes to picking out the icons I want to use--it took me many, many long hours that should've been spent studying to narrow it down to 105, which is absurd. So I feel both very accomplished and like I have a whole new box of toys with which I can play.
- ETA #2: There are certain things around here that make me think of Stargate in funny ways. Like the Student Government Association, which will send out emails with subjects like "SGA Elections!" Or the students from what I can only assume is a local private religious academy, wearing T-shirts that say "Ascension School." My powers of not-snickering are awesome to behold.

I want an "Ascension School" T-shirt! That's awesome! (I would so be snickering)
And I am now very jealous of your tickets. Much paying attention and later reviewing will be had, yes? (Also? Yay!)
Ooh Intruder is on tv right now. Yay Carson! Boo Ford running away! Double hiss and boo at never finding out what happened to Bates!

Oh, we'll be paying close attention to Jensen. Very close attention. *licks*
