I Need SLEEP

*stumbles into LJ*

*blinks*

I've been awake for 24 hours. (I don't count the hour I lay in bed mostly-awake and the 45 minutes I spent making my arms lose sensation on that desk in Butler Library as "sleep"). I still haven't finished my Classical Myth paper, but that's okay, because I sent my prof (the amazing one, the one who has that theory that I SPN-geeked about) a desperate email at 6 this morning begging (coherently and sedately) for an extension.

I can see you don't believe me that I was both coherent and sedate. I have therefore included the text of the email. Keep in mind that I composed this remarkable appeal at six. This morning. I'm amazed at myself...

Dear Professors,

I am writing to request an extension on my paper deadline, if possible. I would never have asked, except that my roommate got me sick right before the weekend, which greatly hampered my ability to write the three papers I have due today. I remained optimistic that I could finish the paper adequately, but I have now been awake for 20 hours straight, in addition to being sick, and I'm unhappy enough with my paper's progress to be writing this email. Even a day's reprieve would be an enormous boon.

If an extension is not possible, please let me know what your late work policy is so I can weigh the pros and cons of turning in the paper late. I will of course keep working unchanged until I hear from you. Thanks,

Lindsey [edit last name]

Why am I doing this instead of sleeping? Lord knows. Anyway, she wrote back saying no penalty if I have it in before the 3rd. I have to see her after class, which is at 2:40. The paper I did finish, for my seminar, was awesome. I'm proud of it (well, except the conclusion. It's...un-spectacular), which is exciting for me, because I haven't been proud of anything else I've written this semester. Some of it I've been actively ashamed to have written. So the fact that I wrote that one paper well made me totally okay with not having finished the CM paper, and now it's just the cherry that I won't be penalized for it. Although I'm going to feel completely intimidated talking to my incredibly erudite little professor.

Why am I still typing?

Do I regret spending a dozen hours hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] maribou413 Saturday night and rewatching the first 7 episodes of SPN instead of working? Not a chance. :) And next weekend, we add alcohol to the mix. Woo-hoo!

Seriously. I'm going to stop typing...now.

HAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Icon love! That is almost exactly the face you make, too. *sniggers*

Nice email! Er, did you mean to write Professors, plural? Good luck with Professor Awesome. She sounds like she'll be cool about it, though.

Heh. Yeah, I thought it was rather appropriate, if a twist on the contextual meaning.

Yes, I did mean to use the plural, because there are two professors who teach the class and I addressed the email to both of them.

Woohoo! This is wonderful news. If I were one of your professors I would have given you an extension just for the sheer awesomeness of the word "boon." Nicely done!

I hope you got some rest.
