new york nostalgia

God, sometimes I really miss being able to get Chinese food and/or walk to the grocery store at 3:30 in the morning.

I feel 'ya. I love San Diego, but in my whole neighborhood, there's exactly one decent Chinese place that delivers, and they're closed Sundays. It's sad.

Oh my god, the state of Chinese food in Austin is truly sad. I just thank god that at least we have decent sushi. And it's compensated by having totally kickass Mexican, which -- the only really excellent margaritas I ever had in New York were the ones I made myself.

Yeah, I've only been to Austin once, many years ago, but I have fond memories of the fabulous Mexican food.

Come to think of it, the situation in San Diego is more or less the same. Is there, like, some law or something that a city can have fantastic Mexican food or fantastic Chinese food but not both?

If it makes you feel better, I can't get either of those at 3:30 in the morning, and I'm in New York. (Well, Brooklyn, which is definitely not the city at 3:30 a.m....)

I'm in Manhattan (although way the fuck uptown), and I'm pretty sure I can't either.

I do not live in the New York I was promised by pretentious novels :(

Well, I guess technically Ollie's was only open until 2am, but I could still walk to the Morton Williams at any hour of the day when I was at Barnard. :)

But HI YOUR ICON! Animal surprised me by being one of my FAVORITE parts of The Muppets movie. Which, I work in a movie theater, so I've now seen it one and a half times straight through and seen parts of about a million times more than that, and I pretty much constantly have the songs stuck in my head, and I love it to PIECES. SO GOOD.

I still miss it a lot anyway. &YOU;
