procedural
Mar. 11th, 2010 05:44 pmI found this blog entry on Southland 2.02 "Butch and Sundance" very interesting. The blogger is a veteran ex-cop, and most of his comments relate to the show's realistic depictions of police procedure and experience. (His only real criticism seemed to be disappointment that the car had blown up, since that very rarely happens, even when they catch on fire.)
It's one of the things I love about Southland; there are certain stories that just have that ring of truth, which springs either from excellent research or real personal experience. Things like Generation Kill or Band of Brothers have it, for obvious reasons. But usually it's in little ways -- for example, having now lived in New York, I can tell when someone's writing New York having only seen it in the movies, versus writing New York having lived and loved there.
