...and I would like to say, I did it at 3 in the morning, and thus disclaim all responsibility. This is definitely related to my last post.

I am such a crazy person, but learning how to use my new photo editing program was fun )

So, this is basically me, when I go to the library:

...um, yeah. Today, I renewed my card, paid my dues, and got seven different Band of Brothers-related memoirs/autobiographies and three different Tintin compilations. They wouldn't let me re-check out the four books on WWI-related topics that had reached their renewal limits, how sad. I already had a whole 'nother stack of books at home on WWI war poets, plus a collection of Lord Peter Wimsey short stories, in addition to all the non-library books I own.

But at least I didn't succumb to getting any The Pacific-related memoirs! I even was holding one of Robert Leckie's books in my hand, and put it back on the shelf. (If it had been Sledge's, I probably wouldn't have been able to do it.) Still, aren't you guys proud? :D?

Pictures of my typewriter! It is my current favorite thing right now. I found the serial number, and have determined that it is a Royal KMG manual typewriter made in 1950. It's in astoundingly good condition, enough so that I wonder if it was just never used, or if someone got it serviced right before I bought it. That, or it's just a really excellent piece of machinery that was treated well all it's life. I just think it's funny that I now own a typewriter that is the exact same age as my mother. :)

I spent a couple of hours yesterday scrubbing off the type settings with an old toothbrush and some rubbing alcohol, and then adjusted the key touch control (which changes how hard the type hits the paper relative to how hard you hit the keys), and now the letters come out beautifully.

I am turning into such a crazy person.

the lady herself, a message, and the writer hard at work, Myspace-style )

The subject line, by the way, is something P.G. Wodehouse said when asked how he wrote. ♥

So, most of us fangirls have a folder somewhere on our computer hard drive. This folder is full of pictures of good-looking people. ([livejournal.com profile] tazical calls this her "To Do" folder. I find this utterly appropriate.)

Therefore, I'm stealing Taz's idea and making it a meme. Everyone needs pictures of hot people to get them through a Monday, right? My To Do folder has exactly 99 random pictures in it, so:

I feel like spamming photos of hot people. Give me a number between 1 and 99 [insert your own total number here], and I will post the corresponding picture from my To Do folder. And then we all win!

And feel free to return the favor to the world on your own journals as well!

- I find it really ironic that in my last post, it was 85 and humid and our AC was broken. The day our AC got fixed? A cold front swept through and dropped temperatures into the 50s. GOOD TIMING, WEATHER. *eyeroll*

- I really love this picture. It makes me think of school, of the screenplay I'm (still) trying to finish, and (weirdly) of H50. Also, it's just an awesome picture.

- I'm trying to decide if I want to register for my 1-year college reunion. On the plus side: the line-up of events actually looks pretty interesting, and I'd get an excuse to hang out in NYC with old friends for a while afterward. On the negative side: lots of small-talking about "how's life been since graduation?" "so what are you up to now?" and "what are you doing with your degree?", none of which are topics I feel particularly great about. Also, since I did that whole take-a-year-off-and-then-graduate-a-semester-early thing, it's a bit weird, because my graduating class isn't really the group of people that I spent the most time becoming friends with; I always felt a bit dislocated in my last year and a half.

So. I'm not really sure what I want to do. Anyone else have strong opinions or advice about college reunions?

Comment with a picture of the fictional character that most reminds you of me at this particular moment in time. Then I will do the same for you!

If all else fails, feel free to be ridiculous. :)

So I was wandering around the internet, as you do, when I passed by a picture of Claudette Colbert (classic Hollywood film actress of leg-baring It Happened One Night fame). I thought, "Huh. She's reminding me of someone.... NO WAY!" because I realized that the eerie resemblance I recognized was between her and Jasika Nicole (who plays Astrid on Fringe). Which is very unexpected.

But I have pictorial evidence! )

Am I right, or what? It's mostly around the eyes and the shape of the face, but it's definitely there.

Ha, my latest text post made absolutely no sense outside of my head, did it? I blame J.J. Abrams, his obsession with the number 47, and my recent marathoning of Fringe. *sigh*

Anyway, that's not what this post is about. Behold, the original definition of "hipster":

It cracks me up that the Wikipedia article on hipsters has a "critical reception" subheading. *snickers*

Completely exhausted, but I'm flying back to Austin tomorrow, so exciting! My friends up here are as diligent as my friends down there about putting me on a plane drunk/hungover, and I'm not as crazy with the last-minute packing as I usually am. So, good deal. <3

This post is mainly to say that the existence of this picture makes my brain hurt at the same time it makes me very happy. :)

So, as I mentioned in my last post, Saturday saw me picking up three lab/hound mix puppies from the Humane Society to foster for two weeks, until they're old enough (8 weeks) to go back to the shelter and into the adoption program.
