I was just searching through my chat logs trying to find something unrelated, and ran across this adorable little chatfic that [livejournal.com profile] calathea wrote to me about five years ago. It is IWTGH!, Mike/Rudy on a skiing trip. Completely adorable, complete with bobble-hats and hot chocolate and skiing shenanigans.

...I love my friends. :)

I was going to make this a longer post, only Katie got back from fetching herself a hamburger, and now we have to watched the Person of Interest episode we just acquired. \o/

Okay, so I apparently haven't posted to LJ in so long that I'm completely weirded out by the new posting form. Yikes, it's been since October! Well, I'm back to do a five-questions meme from [livejournal.com profile] ignipes. I'm not sure doing this right now, when I've just had my wisdom teeth out and am currently loopy on some substantial painkillers with half my face swollen like a chipmunk, is really the best idea, but oh well. *jazz hands*

-Comment with "Winter is Coming" your current favorite catch-phrase/quote from a show/movie, because I have no emotional attachment to Game of Thrones (yet), sorry.
-I'll respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
-Update your journal with the answers to the questions.
-Include this explanation in the post and offer to ask other people questions. (If you want. Totally optional.)

My questions and answers:

1. What would your ideal doesn't-exist-but-totally should TV show be about? )

2. What is the ONE movie you think everybody should see? ONLY ONE. NO CHEATING. )

3. What's your favorite comfort food? )

4. What superpower do you want to have? )

5. What's the best advice you've ever received? Or the worst, if that's more entertaining? )

Well, that was fun! I need to start posting more. I got a new job, so my life and free time are no longer being swallowed up by work like they were, which is awesome. I have weekends! And free evenings! It's amazing. :)

Wow, have I really not posted since July? ...Oops.

Let's see, what's been going on. I went on a long lovely trip to New England at the end of July/beginning of August, and got to see tons of family and old friends and hang out with fangirls in Boston and New York. I really needed that trip, damn. Then there was lots and lots of visiting family here -- my aunt and uncle, and my fabulous older sister. And I moved! Now I am renting with my sister, and we have an adorable little house that will totally host some parties soon, although I am really done with unpacking and cleaning already. I've been working a lot, because traveling and moving are both expensive, and unfortunately the summer busy season just slowed way down.

How about a meme? Taken from [livejournal.com profile] celli:

Comment and I will ...

1. Tell you why I friended you. If I remember.
2. Associate you with something.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Associate you with a character/pairing.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7. Tell you my favourite userpic of yours.
8. Tell you that you must post this in your own journal.

Well, I'm off! I'm road-tripping to my friend's wedding, and then to visit my Older Sister In Med School. There is a LOT of driving in my future. And this is the first time I've undertaken such a long trip by myself; usually I at least have Katie for company/co-driving/passenger seat DJ-ing. Should be interesting...

See you all in a week or so!

Back from visiting my grandma over the weekend. For not doing much of anything, those visits are always inexplicably exhausting. I don't know if it's the humidity, the sleeping on the couch, or the awkward born-again-Christian turns the conversations sometimes take, but regardless, I am very tired. I'm glad to be going over to [livejournal.com profile] junebug_waltz's humble abode tonight for the comforting embrace of Doctor Who-watching and general geekery.

Hello all! I am back from my lovely vacation (well, it was my mom's vacation; I'm not working regularly enough to really feel justified in calling it my vacation).

If you could all do me a huge, wonderful favor and vote for my friend Sarah in this competition, that would be fantastic.

She's at #11, and the contest rules call for making the top ten to get considered; if my flist all votes, perhaps she'll bump up over the edge before voting ends. I can't stand the idea that she might miss this chance by so little, so...please?

Hi guys! I have a favor to ask:

The Huffington Post is holding a contest that will send one lucky winner to Copenhagen as a citizen journalist during the UN Climate Conference. Anyone over 18 can submit a one-minute campaign video, and the winner is chosen from the top ten finalists by a panel of judges.

Now for the salient point:

My friend Sarah, who is one of the most amazing people I've ever known and probably will ever know, has thrown her hat into the ring.

In both my biased and unbiased opinions, I think she would be excellent at this -- she's passionate, incredibly smart, gregarious, hilarious...and photogenic. :D (Just watch her video submission for proof of those last).

In my biased opinion, I really really want my best and oldest friend from childhood to win, because she's one of my favorite people in the world, and I am dragging you all with me in my quest to send her to Copenhagen. (At the moment, I'm considering going around to all the computer labs on campus and casting votes from all their different IP addresses.) Extra points for re-posting the link/re-tweeting! Winner gets...something nice. Feel free to make demands in the comments. :D

VOTE FOR HER!

GIVE HER A 10!

WHOO!

Wow, I haven't had to do relationship counseling for a friend in a while. I always worry if I'm saying the right thing, because I haven't been in many romantic relationships myself, but I try to just think about it on a basic human interaction level. It makes me feel sometimes like I'm just talking in generalities, like handing out fortune cookie wisdom. But it seems to work okay. Still, I worry... It kind of feels like a responsibility, if someone does what you advised them to do. It's not your decision, but you were a part of that process.

I don't know. I worry. Do you guys think I give good advice?

I should be worrying about my paper that's due tomorrow instead of this. *sigh*
