Okay, how is it possible that NO ONE ON MY FLIST managed to tell me that Greta Salpeter had a song up from her solo project?
I had to find out because
arielchan and
junebug_waltz were excited about Gold Motel playing with Empires, and I went "Who's Gold Motel?" and Googled it.
GRETA FUCKIN' SALPETER, THAT'S WHO.
You're all on notice. *glares*
That said, I really like the demo version. I noticed on Goodbye Blues that a few of the tracks had a kind of Motown vibe (an impression reinforced when they played Martha & the Vandellas' "Heat Wave" during soundcheck); this gave me the same feeling. I personally love that -- our mom raised us on Motown and other 50s/60s oldies music, so there's something very familiar about it, in addition to being catchy as hell. And then you mix in Greta's lovely voice, and her always-slightly-eerie lyrics, and I'm left going ALBUM NOW, PLZ.
:D
