Okay, how is it possible that NO ONE ON MY FLIST managed to tell me that Greta Salpeter had a song up from her solo project?

I had to find out because [livejournal.com profile] arielchan and [livejournal.com profile] junebug_waltz were excited about Gold Motel playing with Empires, and I went "Who's Gold Motel?" and Googled it.

GRETA FUCKIN' SALPETER, THAT'S WHO.

You're all on notice. *glares*

That said, I really like the demo version. I noticed on Goodbye Blues that a few of the tracks had a kind of Motown vibe (an impression reinforced when they played Martha & the Vandellas' "Heat Wave" during soundcheck); this gave me the same feeling. I personally love that -- our mom raised us on Motown and other 50s/60s oldies music, so there's something very familiar about it, in addition to being catchy as hell. And then you mix in Greta's lovely voice, and her always-slightly-eerie lyrics, and I'm left going ALBUM NOW, PLZ.

:D

Is that really "Check Yes Juliet" by We The Kings on the roller derby episode of Psych? Really?

...you know they just did it for the name. :)

Disclaimer: This should go without saying, but I'm really not deluded enough to think this is real. At all. It's more like stealing a bunch of characteristics from real life people and using them to decorate my own characters. So, if you real life people are reading this, no offense meant, thanks for letting me borrow details from your life for my entertainment and that of my friends, etc. Keep up the good music! *thumbs up*
Summary: It's fluff. And there's fluffy things in it. Plus cuddling.
Notes: 839 words. Written as incentive for [livejournal.com profile] floridapeaches to finish her homework, and therefore completely unedited and totally hand-wavy at the end. Enjoy!

This weekend has been going AWESOMELY, you guys, completely in spite the fact that after five hours straight in that nightmare of a pit at Emo's, I feel like I've been beaten all over with a two-by-four. Which I really needed, considering that Thursday was pretty much the worst day ever.

Seriously:

1) Great show on Friday, plus fabulous fangirl socializing, plus pictures taken with cute guitarist boys.

2) Became proud foster-er of the three cutest puppies on the planet this afternoon (pictures coming soon to an LJ near you). Nothing counters depression like a lapful (or in their case, entire-legs-ful) of puppy.

3) I CAN HAS MCR TIX? YIS, I CAN HAS! FTW STUBBS, THAT WAS TOTALLY SNEAKY OF YOU. GOOD THING I HAVE BEEN CHECKING OBSESSIVELY. :D \o/!

I rest my case.

The Cab/We The Kings/Metro Station/Cobra Starship! <3 <3 <3 <3

It was so much fun! I got totally squished in the pit and I loved it!

The venue was lame but we just say "shut up 'cause we won't stop we're getting down till the sun's coming up..." :D

Full report coming up tomorrow, darlings!

Court overturns Texas ban on sex toys

YAY! JUSTICE PREVAILS! (Fraser would be so pleased... *g*)

Also, this should totally not be as fucking hilarious as it is, but every time I look at it, I start cracking up. The pics linked in the comments are also completely hysterical. [livejournal.com profile] wolfshirts FTW.
