addendum: Castle!

It kinda makes me sad there's no new episode tonight, because I could really go for something fluffy right now.

But that's okay! Because etben linked to "The Ryan Report", and it's HILARIOUS. It's basically one of those character-blogs, as done by Detective Ryan on Castle (who, btw, often reminds me of a blue-eyed, modern New York version of Ezra Standish, but I think I may be alone on this).

Anyway, there are some gems in here, people:

- "I guess I was a little too focused on other things… like speculative science fiction and girls. Yes, I know, those two things do NOT usually go together. That's what I spent my teenage years figuring out."

- "Nowadays though, everything happens online. Not only you can buy pizzas, movie tickets, and limited edition GI Joe lunchboxes online… you can even order sex! I remember being pretty excited, back in the day, when I found out I could read the lyrics to my favorite songs online (try figuring out what the lyrics "Radio Free Europe" otherwise). If I'd known then… I'll stop before I have to plead the Fifth."

- "There's a stereotype out there that cops are thrill-seekers, mercurial rogues who live on the knife's edge of danger, crazed anti-heroes risking life and limbs. And that can be true – Esposito and I chanced it all by going to the midnight release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox360 on Monday and playing it right up until we had to go to work. You haven't courted danger until you've drunk fifteen cups of coffee and still found yourself trying to sneak a nap while Beckett's on an investigative tear."

- "I do have a rule – no buying [street performers'] CDs. They never sound as cool at home as they did on the street, especially if you'd had a few drinks that night. Naked Cowboy guy, I'm looking at you. I mean, not looking, but pointing.
In any case, all of this has inspired me to look into perhaps picking up an instrument. I'm thinking the harmonica. It's cheap, it's portable, it's relatively easy to play… and it would annoy Esposito out of his mind. Right, now I know what to bring to our next stakeout…"

Okay, I need to stop quoting before I quote ALL of it. Go read it yourself! There's an entire geeky post about historical con men! *draws hearts*

*g* Whoever is writing that thing is grade A-wesome. And while I adore Nathan Fillion, I find myself far more attracted to a Ryan/Esposito sandwhich, featuring ME filling!

I'm becoming increasingly fond of Ryan and Esposito (and Ryan/Esposito). Especially last week, when Ryan was being all hyper and kinda spastic. Also, Ryan has really pretty eyes. Just in case you hadn't noticed. :D

IT ACTUALLY IS, YES. It's essentially a tie-in novel, but they wrote it as if it was actually the book Castle's been writing; the "author" is "Richard Castle," and the acknowledgments section was done in-character. There are lots of inside jokes to the series (like, things that Castle has said "ooh, I should write that into the book," and then he apparently did, and the sex scene actually is on page 105! <3), but it stands on its own as a fun pulp mystery novel. I recommend it! I bought an e-book copy and quite enjoyed the read.

I didn't know you watched Castle! I'm developing a crush on Ryan myself. I've always thought he was pretty, but now he's a big dork, too! SOLD. :D

Of course I do! It's Nathan Fillion! I'm just not terribly fannish about it. Also, Ryan has the most ridiculously blue eyes, it's crazy. I think they might be brighter than Misha's.
