I went and saw Mirrormask, the new movie that Neil Gaiman co-wrote the story and wrote the screenplay for, with a random girl I'd never met. Erin started a Facebook group called "All Of My Role Models Are From Tamora Pierce Novels," and as I was emailing her to ask to be an officer (she was already Alanna, so I requested George), I noticed she was a Neil Gaiman fan. As there is a surprising dearth of Gaiman fans in my immediate vicinity, and I didn't want to go see the movie by myself (I miss Katie!), I asked her if she wanted to go with me. And how can anyone refuse Gaiman? It was lovely--she's a fellow geek at heart, though more of the theater-leaning than TV/movies, but we were on equal book footing.

Plus, she lent me Anansi Boys, therefore she has my undying love. :)

In other news, I finally created gemini_recs for mine and Katie's reccing pleasure. 'Tis the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Oh, and I'm going to go see Rufus Wainwright on November 2nd, because he will be in New York in all his gay glory and I bought tickets. :) :)
