inmyriadbits: oranges on blue (casablancaend)
Well, I had a good weekend. Good company, good food, and good stories are pretty much the Big Three Things that make me happy. I hung out with Katie a lot, we went to my granny's for dinner, and saw some movies at the Paramount with our friend Dara and her friend Kathleen. There were crepes and my granny's roast beef and pancakes with bacon, among other delicious things.

On the story front, I saw Some Kind Of Wonderful on Saturday, which was a lot of fun and had a really amazing kiss and was what I'd wanted to have happen in Pretty In Pink, only better. It was so cute, and I loved Watts and Keith and even ended up liking Amanda, which is always nice. Yesterday, we went to a double feature of The Sting and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. All three of those movies fall into the category of "Holes In My Cultural Education," aka "Why The Hell Haven't I Seen These Yet?" and they were all ridiculously fun. The Sting and Butch Cassidy especially were just awesome--great acting, great writing, great film-making. (I'm assuming the really really good-looking men go without saying, because hello, Robert Redford and Paul Newman in period clothing.) I was completely taken in by the twists in The Sting, which is a very very rare thing indeed, and what a ride! :) BC&tSK still has me thinking--and laughing--about it. Rounding out the movies were a new disc of Magnificent Seven from Netflix and a lot of good fic (such as the really cute Watts-centric SPN/SKoW crossover Kissing Lessons and a really amazing post-The Sting romp called The Buried Treasure Racket that nails the period, the voices, the characters, and has a great con, plus slashy goodness to make a girl's heart happy). :D
