Coney Island and Disney FTW!

Today was a total blast, in ways that had nothing to do with Easter. It's
poisonivory's birthday on Tuesday, so today I went down to Coney Island with her and a bunch of her friends. I've never ever been there before, and it was SO much fun. Part of that was just hanging out with
poisonivory and her friends, who are good people. And with
poisonivory around, you usually end up discussing hilarious things like duck sex, singing Disney songs on the New York subway, and learning that all subjects lead to comics and/or cartoons. *draws hearts* :)
Anyway, I was in just the right mood to appreciate the cheesy, sketchy glory that is Coney Island. :D It was AWESOME.
We started out with this bizarre thing set up in an alley off the boardwalk called "Shoot The Freak," which basically involved shooting a paintball gun from the boardwalk at this guy in armor running around an empty lot. One of us hit him smack in the head, which was cool.
Then we rode the Tilt-A-Whirl. It was freezing cold, so the ride took a while to warm up, leading
poisonivory to dub it the "Tilt-Tilt-Tilt-oh-look-it's-a-Whirl." Still, I enjoyed it, because I had reverted to my inner four-year-old by then.
(By the way, did I mention that it was snowing? What the hell, weather. It's APRIL. Easter should never involve snow.)
Next up was the arcade, where we mostly played Skeeball, with side trips to hammer shark heads with a giant mallet and play DDR. Sadly, the animatronic fortune-teller was not working. I love those things; they are vintage cheese. *tear* Our hard-earned tickets got us ridiculously small rings that cut off circulation and were possibly shaped like slices of bread.
Deciding we hadn't been spun around in circles enough, we proceeded to Top Spin, which is hard to describe; it's sort of a cross between the pirate ship and a ferris wheel and a rollercoaster that loops you upside down. Suffice it to say that we were twirled around like yo-yos and had a great time.
My FAVORITE thing came next: The Cyclone! I love love LOVE rollercoasters. I love going fast, I love the thrill of imminent doom, and I love the whooping and cheering and grinning like a crazy person. :D We all went once together in the middle section, and then
poisonivory and I went again in the last row, which is even more intense and slightly frightening when your lapbar isn't quite tight enough. I had such a good time that my teeth ached from cold afterwards, because I couldn't stop smiling and it was snowing.
poisonivory bought one of those hilarious mid-ride photos they take at amusement parks, which you can see here. That's me in the front row on the right, next to the birthday girl. As you can tell, I'm having a blast. :D
After the Cyclone, Victoria and I went to one of those car-ride haunted houses. "Dante's Inferno" was so, so lame that it was brilliant. We laughed our asses off the entire way through. I will give it to them that the segments of complete darkness were effectively pitch-black and kinda spooky, but that doesn't excuse the werewolf that was so awful it made me think of the mammals on Dinosaurs. We wrapped up the day with hotdogs and cotton candy.
poisonivory and I went by the Disney Store on our way uptown, where I fed her new habit for Disney pins by buying her this and this for her birthday. She also got a very pretty book and I acquired a PotC cursed Aztec medallion for myself. Ooh! And they had Jessie and Woody from Toy Story 2 in the store, so we took pictures with them. Then we ate pizza at the Columbus Circle Whole Foods and came home. I am exhausted, but very happy.
