Things that hurt: the bruises from theater armrests on my outer thighs, the blister on my hand from sledgehammering, my poor feet, my intercostal muscles (no, really), my barked shin, 90% of my arm muscles, my neck.

Things that don't hurt: my wallet.

Okay, you know how LJ provides those stupid prompts on the homepage? Like in case you get stuck blogging or something. I kind of point and laugh most of the time, but this one is a classic: vampires or werewolves?

Vampires. Definitely vampires. This is partly because I've a) yet to see a scary werewolf movie, since most of the effects they try make me want to laugh or completely lack verisimilitude, and b) vampires are frightening to me because they're more human. Werewolves are scary in the sense of losing control; you literally change from man to beast and lose your humanity. Vampires, though, are inhuman in such a human way (if that makes sense) -- fear of them is all tied up in power and greed and lust and death. I always kind of feel bad for werewolves; the human part can't control the beast part, it's almost totally dichotomized, so it just sort of sucks. Vampires, though...vampires are cool. :)

Speaking of, I feel this is a good time to plug Claudia Gray's book Evernight, which I finished earlier this week and LOVED. I want to write up a full review soon, when I'm not half-dead, but seriously, go check it out. You like YA lit? Vampires? Good writing? Good female characters? Good characters, period? You should go read it. [MOAR PIMPING COMING SOON.] :)

Pshaw, werewolves all the way! I've never tried to write a TV show about a singing dancing time-traveling mystery-solving vampire, after all. *is a dork*

Hee, did you really try to write a TV show about a singing dancing time-traveling mystery-solving werewolf? That's awesome! HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS, JESS? You should get on that. *waits patiently*

Why werewolves, then? Instead of vampires.

(btw, I think you should check out Evernight. Add it to your ginormous list! I can lend it to you in September, right after I addict you to Avatar. :D)

Hm... I think I'll go with vampires too, though it depends on numbers I think... and on the kinds of vampires and werewolves we're talking about. Some werewolves don't completely lose sense of self, after all!

And woo, no further plug necessary! Those are all excellent things to have in a book! :) Though might get you to remind me after I come back from the trip...
