So, my suitemates have bedbugs.

I was having an awesome weekend until that particular shoe dropped (Tex-Mex birthday party with an Austin friend who just moved here! Margarita night with my suitemates! Sleeping in! Fringe! YAY.)

I just washed all my everything in very hot water. Now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping it didn't spread past their room.

I've resigned myself to feeling psychosomatic itchiness for the next few weeks, along with excessive paranoia over every unexplained bug bite. *sigh*

...in other news, I just watched all of Fringe. It's been a highly enjoyable ride! I want to post about it at some point -- but perhaps not right now, when I am too twitchy about letting the bedbugs bite to actually sleep tight. :(

I will just say this: Joshua Jackson is an incredibly charming presence on my TV, and I would like him to never go away again; I was not sure what to make of Anna Torv at first, but now I madly adore the woman (and the character, who kicks some major ass); and, totally aside from Walter Bishop's other lovable/hateable attributes and John Noble's fantastic acting, any character who gets a Clapper for his laboratory lights has my eternal adoration. <3

♥ ♥ ♥

I love my fucked up show, and now you have seen it too!

So many people are like "Olivia Dunham, blah blah don't-get-it, don't-like-her", but I find the character to be incredibly interesting. She's this incredibly driven, kickass woman, who manages to be successful in a traditionally mens' field while still being feminine.

Walter has done so many loathsome things, but he's just so adorably human and repentant that you can't help but forgive him.

It's great! I was totally spoiled for the S1 finale, which normally annoys the crap out of me, but it honestly only made the viewing experience better in Fringe's case.

I like her a lot! I wasn't sure what to make of her at first, because she's so remarkably understated, and she kinda fit into certain types, but was just off-kilter enough that I wasn't sure what to expect. Which I think is exactly what I ended up liking about her: she defies TV-stereotype expectations, but not expectations you'd have of a real person. If that makes sense. I think she's fantastic. :)

And totally unrelated to Olivia's independent awesomeness, her relationships with the other characters are really great. I love her friendship with Charlie (although OH NOES CHARLIE re: events of S2), and the odd dynamic between her and Walter, and especially the kinda-Mulder-and-Scully-but-not-really thing she and Peter have going on. Not to mention Peter himself, in all his snarky, marshmallow-on-the-inside, caretaking, MIT-genius, Joshua-Jackson-is-so-damn-cute glory. :) And Astrid! I want a million times more Astrid on the show.

Walter is fascinating, and John Noble does a wonderful job. The man goes from broken to menacing to batshit to wildly inappropriate to incredibly vulnerable to fiercely protective at the drop of a hat, and it never seems OOC. He's such a mass of contradictory elements, yet it never seems like Noble is playing anything other than a single character. Really good acting job, there.

That's the best description I've seen of her yet.

OH NOES CHARLIE
Indeed...why do they have to hurt us like that? I loved getting to watch Kirk Acavedo play the good guy for once.

Peter and Astrid are the most amazing caretaker team Walter could ever hope for. Astrid's one of those characters that I'd want to see someone write lots and lots of crossover fic about.

I watched Return of the King a while back, and it never clicked until then that he played Denethor. He's so incredibly icky in that role. He really is an amazing actor.

Does Sevin work for bedbugs? Put some on your mattress and put an extra sheet on.
