inmyriadbits: oranges on blue (gastoneyebrow)
So...I haven't really been around much. This was due to a combination of school spreading the midterm stress out just enough that it wasn't two weeks of hell high-stress like finals, but medium-high stress over four or five weeks, which is almost worse. At least with finals, you can get it over with and recover; with this, it just keeps dragging out the pain and exhaustion for weeks. Combined with my mom/sisters visiting, WinchesterCon, sickness, intermittent bouts of depression/frustration/avoidance (like that one spectacular Saturday when I watched 15 hours straight of The Office (US version), which is literally the entire run of the series), and issues with the ol' menstrual cycle that I'm just not going to go into right now, and you have one tired Lindsey.

BUT...it looks like I'm in the clear. Mostly. I have a test Friday in bio, and a major project in art due next Tuesday that is going to kick my ass and eat all my free time. Other than that, things are looking up--Thanksgiving is around the corner, I have new BPAL, I got lots and lots of sleep this weekend (despite a highly irregular schedule thanks to a frustrating attempt to go to sleep early at 8pm on Friday that ended in waking up at 1am, not getting back to sleep until 6am, and then waking up at 3pm when Cassandra called me), and I'm in a good mood. I'm going to focus on the fun things of the past few weeks, like going to The Times They Are A Changin' with Cassandra for free; watching Nosferatu at the cathedral of St. John the Divine with live organ accompaniment, dry ice smoke, and a costumed procession of demonic creatures, followed by really good Mexican food; my bellydancing class; enchiladas at Matt and Jancy's apartment for Matt's birthday, etc.

Right now, I can't sleep. I fell asleep around 8pm and woke up around 1, so I've just decided to stay up. Bizarrely, my roommate is not here, and hasn't been since I fell asleep. I'm guessing she's hanging out with her guy friend again, with the accompanying drama they've got going on, which is far too complicated and not-your-business to go into here. (ETA: She showed up at 7am, and had, in fact, been with J.D.). The plan is to try and go through the last month or so of everyone on my flist, probably sans commenting, but at least I'll know what's going on in people's lives. It's been fun so far. I love that LJ can give me everything from comics scans ([livejournal.com profile] poisonivory) to really good Due South fic ([livejournal.com profile] joandarck) to play reviews that somehow spin off into me doing minor research on Greek color theory ([livejournal.com profile] copperbadge). Which reminds me--[livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl! I hope you're reading this so I can ask you what you know about Greek color systems--how they perceived color, how they depicted it in literature and art, etc. Because I am a nerd, and you understand me in that way. *snuggles* I found a few articles here and here that I've sorta skimmed. I also have to go to the Museum of Natural History to do a bio lab, which will be sort of fun. I had to promise my dad that I'd take a picture of the whale skeleton that he claims hangs from the ceiling somewhere in there. This is a running debate, because I think he's thinking of another museum. We'll see. I also am probably going to mosey on out to Brooklyn with Jess and Emily (er, [livejournal.com profile] poisonivory and [livejournal.com profile] orangeaddict) to hang out with [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida at the Tea Lounge). Somewhere in there, I will do other homework.

More about my weekend than you want to know )
