ZOMBIES!

Have I mentioned I love zombies? I do. I particularly love zombie alterations to stories I already know and love. I'm reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies right now and having a very good time! I'm thinking about requesting P&P&Z for Yuletide, only with the characters from Sense and Sensibility instead, because I think Marianne Dashwood dealing with zombies would be hilarious. (Also on the Yuletide list: Fringe fic set in the noir!AU episode universe :D)

Along the same lines, this Leverage fanwork website is so much fun. It's meant to be co-read with an [livejournal.com profile] apocalyptothon fic, Survival By Eliot; the website is basically the website Hardison would design for the Leverage gang's zombie-fighting endeavors in the case of a zombie apocalypse, and the fic is a narrative counterpart. Hardison's footnotes are HILARIOUS, and make sure to read the alt text for the links, too. SO GOOD. Creative fanwork, con artists, AND zombies, hooray!

When I start reading things like this, I inevitably start thinking of other fandoms + zombies, usually starting with the most recent.

cut for lengthy speculation on Hikaru no Go, The Mentalist, Generation Kill, Criminal Minds, Life, Castle, Lord Peter, Burn Notice, Sherlock Holmes, Jeeves & Wooster, and The Middleman -- all WITH ZOMBIES! )

ETA: Band of Brothers and 30 Rock )

Come tell me your own thoughts re: the above or your own favorite "X Fandom – WITH ZOMBIES!" scenarios in the comments. I would most sincerely like to hear them!

In conclusion: ZOMBIES.

Best discussion section for this class that I've had all semester! Instead of having someone regurgitate the week's readings while everyone else nods off, our TA brought in a guy she knows who's involved with new media production. I wasn't expecting much, but it was actually really fascinating -- the way he was describing the concept behind new media was basically presenting it not as a base effort to earn money that cheapens the film, piggybacking off its success (as many of the artiste filmmakers in the class clearly thought), but as a way of telling more stories, of expanding the world of the story.

I ramble on about new media and engagement and storytelling )

Anyway. Wow. I hope that made sense. I've been having some wicked insomnia, so I kinda didn't sleep last night.

The point of all this is, now I'm curious what some of the new media things you all have come across that really did it for you. I've already mentioned the Castle stuff, but one of my very favorites is Burn Notice's Ask A Spy videolets. So clever! So fun! And I always end up wandering around the site or watching an episode or trying to figure out when the season kicks off again, too, so it's effective like that. Another recent favorite is the Sesame Street twitter account, which is awesome, because it's Muppets! Tweeting! It's delightful.

So, what's something fun you've come across recently? Come, bring me your new media favorites...

So, I've been catching up on Burn Notice, and I'd really forgotten how much I love the Michael/Fiona dynamic.

Also, I went back and watched the pilot. I have to say, there's something rather appealing about the pilot in contrast to the rest of the series. Michael Westen at a disadvantage? Kind of hot. What can I say, I'm a bit of a control freak...

Hey, has anyone written a Burn Notice/Dexter crossover? I bet that would be interesting...

Heeee.

To my fellow Burn Notice fans out there: if, like me, you loved all the quirky spy stuff on the show, you might be amused by the USA website's Ask A Spy page. It's a bunch of little videos of Jeffrey Donovan (in character as Michael) explaining how do things like escape from prison in Turkmenistan or avoid getting drunk at a business meeting. Fun! :)
