Podfics are for lovers!
May. 13th, 2008 10:58 pmSo, I often do this thing where I wander away from LJ and come back with a month's worth of replies to catch up on and a terrible fear of my unread flist. Just so you know, when I reply on a comment from forever ago. :) Y'all haven't missed much in my life: was briefly hormonal and period-crazy; went on a date (okay, I guess that's kind of something); celebrated Mother's Day with champagne, bonbons, and old Bones episodes; attended my photography class (I'll be posting some of my prints soon); caught up on the last 2+ seasons of Doctor Who, finished Veronica Mars S3 finally, and am almost done with Torchwood S2. My life, so exciting.
In other news, I had something terribly flattering happen.
winkingstar made a podfic of my Yuletide story for L.M. Montgomery's The Blue Castle, Once In A Blue Moon (also here). I don't listen to podfic for the much same reason I don't listen to audiobooks -- I prefer to read text; I get distracted by thoughts about what I'm reading and suddenly I've missed a whole minute, and it's much easier when I can skim text than when I have to rewind -- but I'm all a-flail about this one. My favorite thing about fandom is the sheer creative energy behind it, the way people are inspired to create and share things. The fact that it was my fic someone else was inspired to make something from is just, well, incredibly cool. *beams* It's a lovely podfic to boot; her voice is well suited to the tone and style, and opening section especially works really well read aloud. Check it out!
