inmyriadbits: oranges on blue (howmuchtv)
[personal profile] inmyriadbits
I've been watching insane amounts of NCIS over the past two weeks; I've already made it through 2.19 "Conspiracy Theory" (that's 43 episodes in 10 days, in case you were wondering. Holy shit, I didn't realize it was that much; it's a sickness.). I've hit a lull, partly because I know Kate will be killed in the season finale and I'm reluctant to watch that (I had a similar reluctance hit me before watching Due South's "Victoria's Secret") and partly because I watched way too many all at once and slightly burned out. My notes aren't much; I started off just listing the bizarrely high incidents of recognizable guest stars, but I have something closer to actual episode notes starting around the end of S1.

To start with, the guest stars and bit roles just keep on comin':

--Stacy Haiduk (the bitchy agent who doesn't like Agent Audrey or Matt Parkman on Heroes)
--Carlos Gomez (I can't quite place him; he was Chuy in Fools Rush In, but I know I've seen him in other things, too)
--Josh Holloway (Sawyer on Lost)
--T.J. Thyne (Hodgins on Bones).
--Andy Umberger (um, lots; especially D'Hoffryn on Buffy and the creepy self-dismembering doctor on Angel)
--And NOW, Terry O'Quinn (Locke on Lost). What's with all the people from that show?
--Leonard Roberts (D.L. from Heroes)
--Fredric Lehne (Ranse Burgess on Firefly, janitor/YED on Supernatural when John makes the deal)
--Cristine Rose (Mama Petrelli on Heroes)
--Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb on Firefly, among numerous others)
--Julie Benz (Darla on Buffy/Angel, Layla in Supernatural ep 1.12 "Faith")
--a tiny, blind Abigail Breslin (the recent Academy Award nominee)
--EEEE!!! David Marciano! Although I'm not sure this beats his guest spot as a gung-ho rat exterminator on CSI NY, because that was awesome.
--General Hammond! (Don S. Davis, Stargate: SG-1) Great to see you!
--Annie Corley (Mary Walsh from The West Wing)
--Dean McDermott (Turnbull on Due South)

1.20 "Missing"

DUDE. Tony has a concealed knife in his belt buckle.

That is so hot. (And you just know that Dean Winchester wants one.)

I'd forgotten how hot Michael Weatherly is when he goes all intense and competent a la Logan on Dark Angel. He usually plays up the goofy with Dinozzo, but this episode (1.20 "Missing") had a good deal of the other side (like when he grabs the arm of the person shooting at the end? HOT). My read of Tony so far is that he desperately wants attention, reassurance of his self-worth, and to be trusted with responsibility, but he's afraid that he doesn't actually deserve it/can't expect it, so he dials up the ego and acts irresponsibly as a sort of compensation and excuse. It's so fascinatingly self-destructive, the way he's always undercutting himself so someone else doesn't get there first. Plus, his comedic timing is genius. MW's a real pleasure to watch in this role.

(Oh, man. Now he's wearing shoulder holsters with no jacket. I LOVE that. Rrrowr.)

1.23 "Reveille"

Okay, this is totally wrong and twisted of me, but I love the chemistry between Kate and Ari. It is so very wrong, because he kills her in cold blood in S2. I know this. I preemptively mourn Kate's loss. And yet, I really want to read an AU in which Ari does not go to the dark side and instead has wicked hot sex with Kate.

This being fandom, I know I can't be alone in this; I just don't know where I can go to find it. Road map, anyone?

2.01 "See No Evil"

Damn! S2 credits cut out that adorable Gibbs smile from the S1 credits. I loved that smile; it makes my heart go all gooey. It's the fact that he smiles so rarely, the lopsided wryness, the semi-shy way he ducks his head to hide it, the way his eyes crinkle...*swoons* I'm a big fan of Tony's new smirk and eyebrow raise shot, however; the charm lies in the way his eyebrows and chin twist are going in completely opposite directions, plus one giant grin. I don't know why that's so great.

I know, I'm so sad. Shut up, I don't care.

Mmm, McGee looks surprisingly good all sweaty (the AC is broken).

2.02 "The Good Wives Club" (?)

HAHA, Tony just made this hilarious, lecherous cat purr. *dies*

2.07 "Call of Silence"

Aww, now Tony is bonding with the old Medal of Honor recipient. That is just too cute.

Damn it. I'm crying over that dancing scene. And the interrogation scene. *sniffle*

2.08 "Heart Break"

Hey! I've totally seen parts of this one before! This was the ep that was my first time watching the show! Ducky goes on a date, if I'm not mistaken, although I think the doctor he has a crush on is the answer to "whodunnit?" And the ignition was a cigarette placed sideways in a matchbook, which burned down and ignited the matches like a fuse.
(added post-ep: Ha. I'm so good.)

"Anthony Dinozzo, comma, M.D." Who do I have to pay to write this AU? C'mon, Tony as a sleazy dermatologist!

Tony's flirting with Jessica Steen's character is going to be so much better this time around, with the backstory and my familiarity with the actress.

Okay, the reversal of Tony knowing where they're going on the carrier this time? Fabulous continuity; the scene almost exactly mirrors the one where Tony ended up lost, only Kate's wrong this time.

2.12 "Doppelgänger"

The way they executed this episode is just great; this cast's comedic timing is excellent, and you just know they had fun with the meta-mocking. And the concept for the teaser (telemarketer as witness to murder) was really fun.

2.13 "The Meat Puzzle"

"If you look down my blouse, I'll disembowel you. I have a knife in my brassiere." That is Ducky's 96-year-old mother speaking, by the way. I love her already (after the fifth time she asks who Tony is again, he answers "I'm Tony Dinozzo, your son's coworker. The Italian gigolo furniture mover, remember?" That gives some idea what their exchanges had been like. Hee!)

Tony's "No, boss! No, boss, I'm on the verge, man!" had an incredibly genuine note of desperation.

2.14 "Witness"

Awwwww. McGee is so cute.

Okay, NCIS is in D.C. and Ducky knows every medical examiner on the face of the planet. Odds he's not friends with Cam or Bones? I'd say that's a given. And Hodgins and Abby would get along like a house on fire with their yen for conspiracy theories. God, and Gibbs and Booth going head to head would be a riot. This crossover would just write itself...

2.15 "Caught On Tape"

How much do I love Abby and Kate? *holds out arms really wide* This much! (Abby just won $20 from McGee by conspiring with Kate.)

AWWW, Gibbs with a mangy little puppy! That's a smart dog, it rolled right over so he could have his tummy pet.

If Gibbs' version of "Musical Interrogation Rooms" is anything as awesome as Exley's in L.A. Confidential, I will be one happy camper. I highly doubt it, though.

2.17 "An Eye For An Eye"

"Are you telling me you're attracted to a disembodied set of eyeballs?" Only Tony.

OMG, McGee's joke! That was actually pretty good.

2.19 "Conspiracy Theory"

Turnbull? As a psychologist? *dies of the irony*

Gibbs: "Call me when you've found something." [walks out of room, phone rings] Abby: "Found something!"

Awww, Gibbs kissed Abby's cut finger and made it better! How did they pull off something that potentially cheesy?

Wow, when Tony mouthed along with Gibbs' "I don't believe in coincidences," I thought he was doing a really excellent imitation for a second.

Ha, Gibbs' reaction to the embarrassing photos/manips at the end! :D That face was just perfect.
