My dad liked the show Bosom Buddies and apparently there was a line where they went "Sonny Sonny Sonny." (sing song like) and my dad decided that he wanted to do that with me.
there was a slight hitch in the plans in that I emphatically refused to be called that, with foot stomping and hands on hips and "I NOT SONNY. I ALLISON." (at about the age in the icon)
My mom's choice was Alexandra, which wouldn't have been too bad, but I like my name.
Awww, that's a cute story! And ha, good for you, refusing to put up with that any more. I bet you were an adorable kid. <3
Speaking of TV shows and names, I was almost named Meredith, but there was a sitcom on at the time with main characters named Kate and Meredith. My parents didn't want to get all cutesy with the twin thing, so that was vetoed. (Although, we did end up with a cool twin name thing totally by accident, since our initials are the same letters rearranged. Which we'll probably use in our matching tattoos, if that ever happens.)
Alexandra is nice, but I think you're more of an Allison.
